The Jefferson
A bold apartment identity rooted in Vancouver’s historic railroad district
-
The Jefferson sat directly across from busy train tracks in Vancouver’s historic railroad district, making perceptions of the location part of the design challenge. As lead designer, I drew on boxcar-inspired color blocks, bold typography, and train-travel references to build a playful identity around that setting. Giving the railway a positive role in the brand connected the apartments to the character and history of the neighborhood.
I carried that direction into the website, marketing materials, signage, and environmental graphics. Branded tile installations and transit-inspired posters brought the railroad references into the building, making them part of daily life at the property. Working across screens, print, and physical spaces meant considering how the same visual ideas behaved at very different scales. I kept the elements simple and strong enough to make that jump without losing their character.
